What Does A Reptile Have To Do With You Being A Successful Real Estate Investor?

Updated: Jan 14, 2019

As a real estate investor you are constantly thinking about various aspects of your business. Things like renovations, filling your rental units, property management, finding a great cash flow property for your new joint venture partner, accounting, legal, and much more...

Speaking of thoughts, did you know that the average individual broadcasts over 70,000 thoughts per day. If you tried to monitor each of these thoughts you would drive yourself mad, especially since the majority of these thoughts are produced in your unconscious belief systems that has been deeply ingrained in you through your habitual nature.

Although you couldn't possibly focus on 70,000 thoughts per day, there is a short cut to monitoring some thoughts and that is through your emotions. Focus on feeling good and your unconscious thoughts will follow. When your thoughts are focusing on something negative, try to refocus those thoughts on anything that feels good. Listen to what life is offering you because although you may not feel (or think) it at the moment, amazing opportunities are out there for the taking.

The constant battle going on in your mind is between your conscious thoughts and your subconscious thoughts. The majority of these subconscious thoughts are derived through what is called, the Reptilian Section of your brain. This section of your brain is the survival mode section. It is the oldest portion of your brain and it is developed to signal whether something will kill you, whether you can eat it or whether you can mate with it.

The reason why this portion of the brain is so important to business owners, real estate investors and entrepreneur’s is because the reptilian section ultimately tries to keep you safe. Whenever a thought enters your mind, the reptilian brain will subconsciously warn you that you are leaving your comfort zone. For the average entrepreneur we know that if you’re not growing, you’re dying.

The reptilian brain tries to keep you safe but what is doesn’t know is that you are an entrepreneur and you are trying to grow outside of your comfort zone each and every day.

The Reptilian brain could be your best friend, but it could also be your worst enemy in terms of stepping outside of what feels comfortable to you and it is your job to siphon between whether something is truly going to jeopardize your safety or whether it is going to unfortunately halt your personal growth.

Over the next couple of days, try to catch yourself wondering if that thought you just had is putting your safety at risk, or if you’re just subconsciously thinking up an excuse not to take that next step towards your real estate goals. This is the constant battle going on in your mind and it is up to you to become aware of this and to make the final decision consciously.

This thought discipline will truly allow you to step in the right direction towards your life goals, wealth goals, real estate goals, and more...

I hope this helps you next time you have a big decision to make...
